The current average rate for a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage ticked to 2.88% for the week ending September 23, according to Freddie Mac.

That’s up 0.02 percentage points from last week, and the same rate as two weeks ago. Rates have been hovering between 2.86% and 2.88% since mid-August and appear to be in no rush to break out of the cycle.

The direction of rates for various types of loans continues to be mixed this week:
