About the Reviews

I really liked the author's friendly, common sense advice on personal finance. I do know how to budget, but I've had a lot of setbacks lately and this book helped put things into prospective. A lot of her tips are things I've already done like cutting out cable and making do with my five-year-old computer and three-year-old smartphone. I also have a chair that my cat clawed up, but I'm still using it and covering it with an animal print throw. I have to use the notebook and pen method instead of the spreadsheet that was offered because my old laptop didn't download it. I may go to the library and see if I can download it and the other free material there. Speaking of which, you can take out books you want to read and movies and CDs for free. And there are lots of websites that offer free and reduced price books for your Kindle (or in my case, the Kindle app for my phone).

I liked the quotations in the book--those were inspirational. And I liked the author's approach--it was like talking to a friend who's good with money advice. Hopefully, this will help me have fewer setbacks. I'm keeping it on my Kindle app for a while so I can refer back to it.

I have read, I mean, *cough!* I have TRIED to read a lot of budgeting books. This is not my area of interest so, although I am an avid reader, those topics are very difficult for me to get through in spite of my great intentions. -This book was very reader friendly and I might actually say that I enjoyed it. It filled me with hope and actionable steps.I downloaded her Excel sheet and have been using it faithfully. There is hope. I CAN do this :)

Although I have never been one for keeping budgets or worrying about expenses, I tried out this book because I needed something to help me save some cash. It had to be something simple that didn't get into BIG investments or any fancy deals where you had to risk money to make money. In this book "How To Stop Living Paycheck To Paycheck" the author has written a very thorough, well-researched and well thought out plan for saving literally thousands a year on taking care of the little stuff in the day to day. I was expecting another budget book on "skimping" and living poor for five years before I could see any results, but this book has the opposite approach. You buy what you need, discard what you don't, and enjoy saving some cash by being more aware of "what to save on" and "how". With great tips and suggestions that range from buying the right home supplies to purchasing clothes, the book is both fun and informative. As debt is a major problem for families these days, I enjoyed the section on Credit Cards and debt; as well, how to save cash on buying a new car or furnishing your home. It is all the little things in our day to day that we miss that cost money in the long run, and the author clearly has authority on the subject as she hones in on the most essential facts that people pay attention to: How can I have more money! If you read this book I am sure that you will save yourself a bundle over the next year.
