At this year's VMA's, visual genius and our mother Missy Elliot will finally get the most prestigious award MTV has to dole out: the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award.

In addition to accepting the award, Missy will perform at the ceremony, which will be hosted on Monday, August 26, for the first time since 2003.

"Her creative vision across production, performance and songwriting is unmatched," said Viacom head of music and talent Bruce Gillmer.
