20 Gustave Flaubert Quotes To Inspire Success On Your Own Terms
Positivity

Gustave Flaubert (December 12, 1821 – May 8, 1880), was a prolific writer regarded as the prime mover of the realist school of French literature. Flaubert began his literary career at school, and even though he had enrolled to study law, writing remained his all-time passion. His reputation rests on his masterpiece – Madame Bovary – a novel that was considered an outrage for many critics after it was published. Now, the novel, which examines human conflicts, weaknesses and hypocrisies, is considered one of the best written books of all times. It remains just as pertinent today as it was in the 19th century. Flaubert hated newspapers and “ideas received.” He strongly believed that they spread a new kind of stupidity in which people know more, yet understand nothing. The author used his opinions on the matter to create his most loathsome character in Madame Bovary, the pharmacist Homais.

Listen to storiesBased on my personal experience, this advice was once tantamount to a Perfect Strangers marathon every night until I could feel my heart again. Schools in England to offer free sanitary products

Campaigners in the fight against period poverty have welcomed a new scheme that allows schools in England to offer free sanitary products to students. From today, state-funded institutions – including primary and secondary schools and sixth form colleges – in England can order tampons and pads under the new scheme from the Department of Education, which is being delivered in partnership with health company, PHS. The aim of the campaign is to ensure that period poverty does not pose a barrier for students to access education. “I think this is a really important step toward eliminating period poverty,” founder of the Free Periods campaign, Amika George, told Positive News. “Children should not be held back by periods but we know that for too long now, this has been happening. Being able to access period products when they need them will make sure that nobody has to miss school because they can’t afford to buy pads and tampons.”

The recommendations come following the introduction of a new “character” framework to the national curriculum (chk) by Ofsted in 2019.Named “The Experience List”, it is encouraging activities such as “spending time getting to know an older person”, “becoming a mentor to someone younger”, “spending time in nature” and “carrying out random acts of kindness”.

How Can Boundary Setting Turn a Toxic Friendship Into a Healthy One?
Positivity

Boundary setting is surprisingly life-changing. For people pleasers, the authentic expression of wants, needs, and desires is often secondary to fulfilling the needs of others. The curious trap is, “others” are usually loved ones. And these are typically the relationships in most need of boundaries. The communication of needs is balanced with fears of upsetting someone, appearing selfish, being rejected or losing relationships completely. If done correctly, however, setting boundaries saves friendships. It doesn’t destroy them.I’ve decided to highlight friendships for two reasons. Friendships are intimate and committed relationships spanning years. But they don’t have the supportive literature or guidance they deserve; most topics, particularly online, center around romance of familial relationships.
