For a while, Dale Moss had a job many dream of, drawing an NFL player’s paycheck. Long before he did, though, he knew he had ambitions beyond athletics, and now those dreams include helping small-business people manage their career goals and lives.

“When I was young, I saw the power of athletics as far as opening doors. I was in a somewhat segregated community – not only to racial barriers, but social barriers,” the 30-year-old, who played basketball for four years at South Dakota State University and traveled among NFL practice squads from 2012 to 2014, tells AskMen.

“Honestly, football was my Plan B,” admits Moss. “I came into the game playing because I loved competing, but people said I couldn’t transition and have success after being a basketball player my whole life.”
